FDM — Rapid Prototyping & Functional Plastics (Gold Coast & Brisbane)

Practical, fast, and tough — engineered parts and prototypes at an affordable cost.

When speed, value, and real-world practicality matter, FDM is the workhorse. We run engineering-grade filaments (PETG-CF, ASA, PA-CF, TPU) for durable components, fixtures, and “get-it-done” solutions around the workshop, vehicle and home.

Why choose FDM

FDM gives you fast iterations and strong, affordable parts. It’s brilliant for checking fit/ergonomics, producing utility components, and tackling everyday engineering problems — before committing to MJF, SLA, or tooling.

Capabilities

  • Fast iteration: same-day/next-day prototypes and fixtures.

  • Large practical parts: great for covers, guards, trays and brackets.

  • Engineering materials: PETG-CF for sheet-metal bending jigs, ASA for UV stability, PA-CF for stiffness, TPU for flexible seals/grips.

  • Economical scaling: ideal for one-offs through short runs.

Typical Specs

  • Build envelope: up to ~350 × 350 × 350 mm (larger via segmentation & bonding).

  • Layer height: 0.12–0.28 mm typical.

  • Tolerances: ±0.1–0.2 mm typical; tighter on critical features with tuning.

  • Lead time: 5 hours – 2 business days dependant on size and quantity

  • File types: STEP, STL, IGES.

Applications

  • Rapid prototyping: test fitment of all parts and functionality

  • Automotive/4×4: dash clips, sensor mounts, 4x4 gauge pods, custom digital dash convertions.

  • Workshop: sheet-metal bending jigs (PETG-CF), soft jaws, drill guides, go/no-go gauges.

  • Household/DIY: appliance brackets, hose adapters, drawer runners, garden fixtures.

  • Startup/MVP: early enclosures and pilot units before nylon or tooling.
